This is the official channel for composer Jonathan Hartsock. Jonathan is a gifted pianist and composer, devoting his compositions to the telling of stories. Jonathan takes an unorthodox approach to composition that modern technology accommodates well - he cannot read sheet music, but he plays the piano by hear and with a feel of his own sense of patterns that are invoked as emotions are tuned into. Much like a jazz composer takes on improvisation, Jonathan does the same, but with his own flare. Attending school while composing on the side - Jonathan aims to make soundtracks one day. "I think of composition for me as two primary things - first it is an empathy exercise, trying to understand the complexity of the human experience and the emotions that come with that. Second, it is like sculpting, carving into the uncharted stone and making something beautiful and meaningful within. So it is a journey, and I am happy to see my improvement in the craft with each project I take on."- J.H.
